B. GRAMMAR
I) Phrasal verbs
Read the following sentences.

  •  The guest of honour took off after the speech.
  • The price of carrots has gone up at the market.
  • The price of cabbages will go down after the rains.
  • The boy will look after cattle during the holidays.
  • We looked for the lady all morning without success.

In the above sentences:
  • took off means went away.
  • takes after means look like.
  • gone up means price has increased.
  • look after means take care of
  • go down means price will decrease.
  • looked for means tried to find.

Complete the following sentences with the correct phrasal verb.

II) Use of ~ness.
Example: He was punished because he was lazy.
Lazy is an adjective.
He was punished because of his laziness (a noun).
We add suffix ~ness to an adjective to form a noun.
Other examples : 

  • kind - kindness
  • ill - illnessn
  • serious - seriousness
  • bright - brightness
  • dark - darkness
Now use the above nouns to complete the following sentences.
