- This are Europeans who came to Kenya and acquired land during the colonial days .
- Most of them came into country after the construction of the Kenya-Uganda railway
AREAS OCCUPIED BY SETTLERS
- They settlers took their fertile land where the Africans practiced agriculture
- The main areas occupied were:
- i)The central highland of Muranga,Thika,Nyeri and Kiambu.
- ii)Central rift valley eg Nakuru and Laikipia.
- iii)The western highlands of Trans nzoia,Kitale,Eldoret,Nyamira and Bureti.
- iv)The Konza-Embakasi btw Nairobi and Machakos.

Effects of settlers farming in Kenya
- Some settler farming had both negative & positive effect in Kenya
Positive Effects Are
- Introduction of commercial farming.
- Introduction of exotic animals
- Development of infrastructure
- Setting up industries
- Creation of urban centers
Negative Effects Area
- Squatters problems
- Racism
- Reserves of low productivity
- Exploitation of Africans.
