Addition of fractions using L.C.M
Example
21/4 + 52/3=
Add the whole numbers 2 and 5 to get 2+5= 7.
Find the L.C.M of the denominators 4 and 3 .

The L.C.M of 4 and 3 is 2 ×2×3= 12
Add the fractions using the L.C.M
1/4+2/3 =3+8/12
Divide 12 by the denominator 4
12/4 =3 multiply 3 by the numerator 1 to get 3×1=3
Divide 12 by the denominator 3
12/3= 4 . Multiply 4 by the numerator 2 to get 4×2= 8
Add the fractions 3+8/12=11/12
Add the whole number to the fraction
7+11/12=711/12
