Major language groups in Africa.

• They are grouped according to the languages the speak.
• They are

The Bantus

• The Nilotes
• The Cushites
• The Semites
• The Khoisan
• The Pygmies
• The Negroes

The people of Eastern Africa

• This are people covers the countries like;Kenya,Sudan,Ethiopia,Somalia,Uganda,Tanzania,Eritrea,Djibouti and South Sudan
• The original inhabitants were mainly Hunters and Gatherers.
• The people of Eastern African are mainly divided into 4 major group
• Bantus
• Nilotes
• Cushites
• Semites

1.The Bantus

• They are the largest language group In Kenya and Africa.
• The have been in Central Africa region at the Congo-Cameroon border.
• Their main economic activity was crop cultivation
• They were also good in Iron smelters
• The main causes of the migration
• Is overpopulation which result to the shortage of land for cultivation.

  The Eastern Bantus of Kenya.

The group entered Eastern African through the route between Lake Kivu and Lake Tanganyika.

These people include the;

Agikuyu,Ameru,Aembu,Ambeere

Mijikenda and Pokomo

The Western Bantus

• These communities migrated into Kenya from the western direction through Uganda

They includes

The Abaluhya

They settled in Western highlands of Kenya.

The Abakuria

They entered eastern Africa through the route between lake Edward and lake Albert.

The Abagusii

The group first settled at Yimbo but later forced by Luo.
